About the mission

Ariad is looking, on behalf of one of its clients, a major player in advanced medical technologies in the field of proton therapy, for an R&D Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team dedicated to the development of its Imaging System.

As part of our client's Agile transformation within its R&D department, they are looking to strengthen their team leadership with an experienced people manager, able to support the growth and performance of a technical team.

Your mission

As R&D Manager, you are responsible for the people leadership and overall performance of a multidisciplinary team delivering solutions for the Imaging System. You are accountable for team cohesion, engagement, talent development, and operational effectiveness.

Your responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop team members
• Build a sustainable team (recruitment, onboarding, staffing, retention)
• Ensure an environment that supports reliable delivery (capacity, workload, planning)
• Support the adoption and maturity of Agile practices
• Promote strong engineering and quality practices
• Foster ownership, autonomy, and accountability within the team
• Facilitate collaboration with the Product Owner (prioritization), Scrum Master (Agile practices), and technical stakeholders
• Ensure alignment with other Talent Managers and system/component teams
• Contribute to cross-team initiatives and communities of practice
• Drive improvements in team performance, collaboration, and delivery efficiency

Your profile

• Experienced leader with a strong passion for people development
• A few years of experience in at least one of the following: software development, business analysis, or solution architecture, ideally in a regulated environment
• Strong active listening and communication skills, enabling trust and clarity across teams
• High level of flexibility and adaptability in dynamic environments
• Ability to operate with a clear vision while embracing test-and-learn, iterative approaches
• Capacity to advocate for your convictions with both tact and determination
• A firm and assertive mindset, able to make decisions, arbitrate when needed, and ensure consistency in execution
