About our role:

The industrial technology sector is evolving rapidly, driven by automation, sustainable energy solutions, smart infrastructure, and international collaboration. As organisations continue to modernise critical systems and expand globally, reliable IT infrastructure and network operations have become essential to business success. 

Ariad is currently looking for a System & Network Engineer for one of its key clients. This freelance opportunity offers an initial contract of one year and the chance to work in a truly international environment, supporting critical IT infrastructure and operations across multiple locations worldwide.

In this role, you will act as a trusted technical expert, ensuring the performance, stability, and continuous improvement of systems and network environments. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while helping to resolve complex technical challenges and maintain high levels of operational excellence.

What you will be doing:

  • Provide first-line technical support to internal users and stakeholders.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to systems, networks, infrastructure, automation, or industrial environments.
  • Create, update, and maintain technical documentation, procedures, user guides, and intervention reports.
  • Coordinate activities with maintenance teams, service departments, suppliers, and external partners.
  • Manage and follow up technical tickets while ensuring clear communication with stakeholders.
  • Analyse recurring incidents and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and maintenance activities when required.
  • Ensure system reliability, operational continuity, and service quality.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, service, and quality teams.
  • Travel occasionally to client sites and international locations to support projects and technical interventions.

What you bring:

  • Ambition to further develop your career in Systems Engineering, Network Engineering, and IT Infrastructure.
  • Proven experience in a similar technical support, field service, commissioning, systems, or network engineering role.
  • Past experience in industrial, manufacturing, energy, or engineering environments is a plus.
  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience in technical support or infrastructure-related functions.
  • Your strengths include troubleshooting, systems analysis, technical documentation, and problem-solving.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, architectures, plans, and engineering documentation.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure, systems, networks, automation, instrumentation, or industrial processes.
  • Strong analytical thinking and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication and customer-oriented approach.
  • Strong organisational skills, autonomy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with international and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication skills in English. Additional languages are considered an asset.
