About our role:
Our client is one of Belgium's leading financial institutions, continuously investing in digital innovation to deliver secure, intuitive and customer-centric banking experiences. As digital banking continues to evolve, organisations are increasingly relying on user research, design thinking and evidence-based product development to create seamless experiences across web and mobile channels. Recent investments in digital innovation, AI and customer experience further reinforce the strategic importance of user-centred design within the banking sector.
As a UX Researcher, you will lead qualitative user research throughout the entire product lifecycle, helping project teams better understand customer needs, validate design decisions and transform research findings into actionable insights. Beyond delivering research, you will act as an ambassador for user-centred design by promoting best practices, introducing new research methodologies and strengthening the UX research culture across multidisciplinary teams.
What you will be doing:
- Your main responsibility will be to plan, conduct and deliver qualitative UX research throughout the full design lifecycle, supporting both discovery and evaluative research activities for digital banking products.
- Develop research strategies, select appropriate research methodologies and organise user interviews, usability testing, card sorting, diary studies and other research activities aligned with project objectives.
- Collaborate closely with UX Designers, Product Owners, Business Analysts and stakeholders to identify research opportunities, prepare studies, recruit participants and maximise the impact of research outcomes.
- Analyse qualitative research findings and transform insights into clear reports, practical recommendations and compelling presentations that influence product and design decisions.
- Promote user research best practices by introducing new research frameworks, testing approaches and continuous improvements while embedding user-centred thinking across Agile delivery teams.
- Maintain research documentation, repositories and knowledge assets, ensuring valuable customer insights remain accessible and reusable across future initiatives.
What you bring:
- 3–5 years of professional experience in qualitative UX Research, Human-Centred Design or a similar research-focused role within digital product development.
- Strong expertise in qualitative research methodologies, including usability testing, user interviews, card sorting, diary studies and other user-centred research techniques, with excellent analytical and reporting skills.
- Experience working within Agile multidisciplinary teams, collaborating effectively with designers, product owners, analysts and business stakeholders to influence product decisions.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to clearly present research findings and translate user insights into actionable recommendations.
- Experience with unmoderated testing platforms, AI-powered research tools or emerging UX research technologies is considered a strong advantage. Previous experience within the banking or financial services sector is a plus.
- Native-level Dutch or French is essential, with bilingual Dutch/French considered an advantage. Fluent English is required for reporting and collaboration within international teams.
The offer:
- Contractor collaboration for an initial six-month assignment with strong possibilities for extensions and long-term, multi-year collaboration.
- Start date: 1st October.
- Work on strategic digital banking initiatives that directly influence the customer experience across web and mobile platforms.
- Collaborate with highly experienced UX, Product, Design and Business professionals while helping shape the future of user-centred digital banking in Belgium.
- Hybrid working model with two to three days per week at our client's Brussels headquarters.
