About our role:

Our client is a leading insurance provider in Belgium looking for an experienced UI Design & User Testing Lead to strengthen its digital experience capabilities.

Belgium’s insurance industry is continuing to develop more accessible, trusted and customer-focused digital services. Within this regulated environment, organisations need to validate ideas carefully, improve digital journeys using reliable evidence and ensure that interfaces meet high standards for usability, accessibility and visual quality.

In this strategic role, you will shape the team’s approach to UI validation, user testing and experimentation. You will establish practical frameworks and methods that enable Product Owners, UX Designers and UI Designers to test ideas before development and make informed design decisions.

Your impact will extend beyond interface design. You will help create a consistent experimentation culture by defining testing standards, shortening validation cycles and centralising user insights so that teams can learn from previous research. Through structured testing and measurable outcomes, you will help our client improve both customer experience and digital performance.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams across Product, UX, UI and the wider business. This is an opportunity to combine hands-on design expertise with strategic leadership and make a visible contribution to digital insurance experiences used in the Belgian market.

What you will be doing:

  • Your main responsibility will be to define and lead a clear, scalable approach to UI validation, user testing and digital experimentation.
  • Turn business questions and design assumptions into measurable hypotheses with clear objectives, expected outcomes and success criteria.
  • Select the most appropriate validation method for each challenge, including guerrilla testing, prototype testing, A/B testing and qualitative or quantitative research.
  • Promote a pragmatic testing culture by helping teams recognise when research will add value and when existing evidence is sufficient to move forward.
  • Lead UI validation throughout the product lifecycle, from early concepts and prototypes to implementation and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that digital interfaces meet agreed standards for usability, accessibility, consistency and visual quality.
  • Support UX and UI teams in validating design decisions before development, reducing avoidable rework and improving delivery confidence.
  • Define best practices for interface testing, visual validation and evidence-based design improvement.
  • Design rapid experimentation cycles that help teams validate ideas efficiently without compromising the quality of the research.
  • Create and maintain a central repository of testing methods, research findings, user insights and reusable best practices.
  • Develop practical templates, frameworks and documentation that make user testing easier to apply consistently across teams.
  • Act as a trusted point of reference for user testing methodologies across the organisation.
  • Align Product Owners, UX Designers, UI Designers and business stakeholders around hypotheses, research plans and success measures before implementation begins.
  • Coach multidisciplinary teams in experimentation, design validation and evidence-based decision-making.
  • Monitor the impact of testing activities and use measurable outcomes to improve design quality, customer experience and conversion performance.

What you bring:

  • Several years of relevant experience in UI design, with the expertise to assess and improve complex digital interfaces.
  • Strong knowledge of user testing methodologies and the ability to select an appropriate research approach for different product and business questions.
  • Proven experience with conversion rate optimisation and using experimentation to improve digital performance.
  • A structured and analytical approach, supported by sound judgement, curiosity and strong exploratory testing skills.
  • The ability to translate broad business challenges into focused hypotheses, research questions and measurable success criteria.
  • Clear communication and documentation skills, with the ability to make research findings understandable and useful to different audiences.
  • Experience in banking, insurance, financial services or another highly regulated environment is strongly valued.
  • Experience within a service-based organisation would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of e-commerce journeys, conversion funnels or transactional digital products is a strong asset.
  • Full professional fluency in English.
  • Full professional fluency in either Dutch or French.
