Yes, you can book your own round-trip flight and taxi fare. You'll then receive a €200 voucher to help cover part of the cost.

We'll be staying at the Hotel Costasol. 

Please note that accommodation costs are at your own expense.

  • Single room with breakfast: 272€
  • Single room with no breakfast: 227€

  • Shared room (2 single beds), no breakfast: 249€ (124,5€ pp)

   

• Option 2 - You arrange your own accomodation: You are welcome to book your accommodation yourself, either at the Hotel Costasol or at another hotel of your choice.

Working times and presence

• Most of the A-Team staff arrive between 8.30 and 9.30 a.m. and leave the office between 5 and 6 p.m.
• Our onsite team is hybrid presence, so some people work from home a few days per week. However, you’ll find that many colleagues enjoy working from the office every day.

Breaks

• Usually we try to have lunch together around 13.30h. Depending on the amount of people in the office, we may have multiple lunch shifts, and there is no official lunch hour.
• Some people bring lunch with them, others get or order something to eat from a nearby bar.
• There are basic kitchen amenities in the office: coffee, water and some light snacks, a refrigerator and microwaves for common use.
• If you choose to go out, keep in mind typical kitchen hours at restaurants are 13h-16h for lunch.
• There are plenty of restaurants within a few minutes’ walk!.

Climate

• Almería is one of the cities with the most hours of sunshine in Spain and in May or October you can expect average temperatures of a pleasant 21 degrees.
• The sun can be quite strong even in the off season, especially between 10-3pm — it’s wise to have sunscreen if you plan to spend the day outdoors.

• The province Almería is one of the driest regions in Europe, therefore a subtropical desert climate prevails.

   

People

• Currently Almería city has close to 200.000 inhabitants
• Through the university "Universidad de Almería", the city is mixed with many young international people.
• Almería has strong fishing and agriculture industries.
  • Specializing in greenhouse vegetables like tomato, cucumber, peppers and zucchini, Almeria is one of the primary growing zones of European produce.
  • More than one trillion kilograms of tomatoes are exported annually.

  • The plastic-lined structures found around the province are economic greenhouses, with meticulous irrigation systems.

     

History

• Already in prehistory the first people settled in the bay of Almería
• The Romans named Almería Portus Magnus and coordinated their Mediterranean trade connections from here.
• Almería was very desirable not only because of its favorable location, but also because of its high deposits of gold, silver and copper.

Eating at restaurants

• Compared to Northern Europe, the daily rhythm in Spain is slightly later. Typical kitchen hours at restaurants is 13h-16h for lunch, and 20h-23h for dinner. You will likely find that between these hours you can only get drinks and simple snacks or cold tapas.
• Welcome to Almería: a tasty tapa comes free with your drink! (beer, wine or “mosto”, a sweet non-alcoholic juice. Other drinks likely do not include the tapa). There is typically a tapas menu for you to choose from. Free tapas are called “tapas de cortesía” and if there is an extra charge, it may be marked as “supplemento”.
• Some restaurants do not offer tapas at the weekend, only larger portions/plates called “raciones”. (This is more common since the pandemic)
• Raciones are larger portions, typical for sharing. Pinchos/pinxos are larger or more elaborate tapas, most likely one serving.
• Some restaurants have divided areas: one for tapas and one for raciones. You are usually told directly by the waiter.
• You will have to ask for the bill at the end of the meal. Use the phrase “la cuenta, por favor”.

• Tips are not required, but it is customary to leave some coins (up to 2-3€) on the table after you pay.

   

Siesta

• In the summer months, it is hottest, especially in the afternoon between 2 - 6 pm. This is also the reason why most shops are closed during this time. The hours can vary from shop to shop.
• Don't worry! Many stores like big supermarkets like Lidl or Mercadona are open all day. Buses and taxis also still operate during this time.
